Android: Encourage a Friend
Encouragements let you send a Friend a Bible verse and a short message of support, right when they need it. "Encourage one another daily" (Hebrews 3:13).
Send an Encouragement
- Select You or tap your Profile Picture (or Initial) from the Home screen.
- Select Friends.
- Find the Friend you want to encourage in your Friends list.
- Select Encourage next to their name.
- Review the verse and message shown on their card.
- Select Send Encouragement.
You'll see an Encouragement Sent confirmation, and your Friend will receive a push notification.
Encouragement Limits
- You can send an Encouragement to the same Friend once per day.
- There's no limit on how many different Friends you can encourage in a day — send one to as many Friends as you'd like.
- Once you've sent today's Encouragement to a Friend, their card will show as sent until the next day.
See How Many Encouragements You've Sent
- Select You or tap your Profile Picture (or Initial) from the Home screen.
- Your total Encouragements sent are at the top of your profile, just above your Badges.
Receive an Encouragement
When a Friend sends you an Encouragement, you'll get a push notification, such as:
You Received Encouragement from [Friend's Name] [Encouragement message] "[Verse text]" ([Verse reference])
- Tap the notification.
- You'll be taken directly to that verse in the Bible tab so you can read it in context.
Turn Off Encouragement Notifications
If you'd rather not receive Encouragement push notifications, you can turn them off at any time.
- Bottom right: select You.
- Select the Settings gear icon.
- Select Notification Settings.
- Select Push Notifications.
- Find Encouragements and switch it to Off.
- Top left: select <.
You'll still be able to send Encouragements to others — this only affects notifications you receive.
