Updated 1 day ago by Zizoh Anto

What are Labels?

Labels are a very helpful way to organize, filter, or group Notes and Saved Verses.

For example, you can create a label called “Romans” and save all the Saved Verses/Notes related to the book of Romans.

Add or Remove Labels from a Note or Saved Verse

While adding or editing:

  1. To add a label, select it from the list.
  2. To remove a label, select it again to uncheck it.
  3. To create a new label:
    • Select Label at the bottom left.
    • Tap the input field and type your new label name.
    • Then select + to add it to your label list.
  4. Select Done to save your changes.

Filter Notes or Saved Verses by Labels

You can use labels to view only the Notes or Saved Verses grouped under a specific label.

  1. Bottom right: select ≡ (More), then Saved.
  2. Top right: select the 🏷️ Label icon.
  3. Select any label from the list.
  4. Select Cancel to return to the previous screen and view Notes and Saved Verses with that label.
  5. To view everything again, select the 🏷️ Label icon again and deselect the label.

Frequently Asked Questions about Labels on iOS

Are labels the same for Notes and Saved Verses?

Yes. Labels you create can be used on both Notes and Saved Verses. They’re shared across both types of content.

Can I rename a label?

Not directly. Label names can’t be edited.

Workaround: Create a new label with the correct name, add it to all the Notes or Saved Verses where it's needed, then remove the old label. Once it’s no longer used, it disappears.

Can I delete a label?

Labels can’t be manually deleted. However, if a label is removed from all Notes and Saved Verses, it will be automatically removed from your list.

Can I create a label ahead of time?

No need! You can create a new label any time you’re adding or editing a Note or Saved Verse.

Why doesn’t tapping ⊕ create a new label right away?

The only works after you’ve typed a name in the field. It won’t open a new box — you must enter the name first.
