Why can't I download audio and listen offline?

Updated 3 weeks ago by Nizia Dantas

Downloading audio requires a large amount of available space on your mobile device. Most mobile devices lack sufficient resources for this much audio. While certainly this is not true of every device, YouVersion reaches users literally worldwide, so we have to ensure that our solutions work across as broad a range of devices as possible. We hope to bring offline audio to the app in the future but do not have a time-frame at this point in time.

If offline audio is incredibly important to you, we would recommend Bible.is which has the ability to download audio for offline use. You can get more information about Bible.is from their website.

YouVersion does not own the copyrights for any of the versions that we offer. It’s only through cooperative partnerships with generous Bible societies and publishers that we are able to use the many versions that we do. The organizations who provide YouVersion with the versions that we have available have demonstrated extraordinary grace and generosity in allowing us to bring them to a worldwide audience—completely free of charge. In fact, their choice to partner with us makes possible everything that we do. And we are profoundly grateful for each of these relationships.

YouVersion has entire servers dedicated solely to streaming audio, so we get to witness firsthand just how many millions and millions in the YouVersion community are listening to the Bible. It’s extraordinary to see just how many people are connecting with God’s Word in this way, and we feel honored to be a part of it.

How did we do?
