Troubleshooting tips on iOS

For a variety of reasons, apps can become somewhat unresponsive. Also many functions of the Bible App depend on connection with our servers, so any glitch in the connection between the app and the server can cause the app to behave oddly, such as:

  • Audio stops or won’t play
  • Can’t change books
  • Can’t see bookmarks or notes or plans
  • “Timed out” message
  • “Connection” message
  • The app seems unresponsive
  • Streak needs to be reset

Here are some different things to try:

These tips are meant to guide you through an increasing level of troubleshooting. You Do Not have to do every step. Try one section at a time until you are able to use the app correctly again.
Check the App Store and make sure you have the latest version of the app.
Refresh the Bible App
  1. Select  More
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Refresh
Sign out of your account in the Bible App and then sign back in
  1. Select More
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Sign Out (confirm, if necessary)
  4. Select Sign in
Force Close the app
  1. On an iPhone X or later or an iPad with iOS 12.2, from the Home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps.
  2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close. Swipe up on the miniature Bible app screen.
  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app
  4. Reopen the Bible app.  It should now be working properly
Restart your mobile device
  1. Power down shutdown and restart
Delete the Bible App
  • and then reinstall it from the App Store
  • (but only if you have iOS 11 or later installed on your device)
