Why can't I listen to audio in all Bible translations

Last Updated: Sep 03, 2014 09:10PM CDT
The audio is not synthesized from the text, it is a recording of a human voice, as on a CD.  YouVersion does not actually record any of the audio you are listening to. Our partners record the audio and then make it available to us for free so that we can provide it to you for free. Not all Bible translations that we have text for have corresponding audio associated with it. We're always working with generous partners to get audio in more translations. Keep an eye out on for announcements about additional Bible audio.

YouVersion does not own the copyrights for any of the audio versions that we offer. It’s only through cooperative partnerships with generous Bible societies and publishers that we are able to use the many versions that we do. The organizations who provide YouVersion with the versions that we have available have demonstrated extraordinary grace and generosity in allowing us to bring them to a worldwide audience—completely free of charge. In fact, their choice to partner with us makes possible everything that we do. And we are profoundly grateful for each of these relationships.

Even though only certain versions or portions of versions are available at this time, you can rest assured that everything that we have, we’re sharing with you and the YouVersion community.
