If the app is stuck or unresponsive

For a variety of reasons, apps can become somewhat unresponsive. Also many functions of the Bible App depend on connection with our servers, so any glitch in the connection between the app and the server can cause the app to behave oddly, such as:

  • audio stops or won’t play
  • can’t change books
  • can’t see bookmarks or notes or plans
  • “timed out” message
  • “connection” message
  • the app seems unresponsive
When that happens, a Quick Reset (also called a Force Close) of the app can do wonders, and it can’t hurt anything.
  1. To do a Quick Reset return to the main screen of your device (where you see all the app icons) and:
  2. Press the main hardware button on the device TWICE quickly (this is the round button below the display)
  3. You’ll see a list of apps across the center of the screen
  4. Swipe up on the miniature Bible app screen.
  5. Press the main hardware button again to return the screen to normal
  6. Now reopen the Bible app.  It should now be working properly


If Force closing the app doesn't work, try one or more of the following:

  1. Refresh the Bible App (on the bottom navigation menu (select More > Settings > Refresh)
  2. Sign out of your account in the Bible App and then sign back in (select More > Settings > Sign out)
  3. Restart your mobile device
  4. Delete the Bible App and reinstall it from the App Store
    • Requires you to sign in again
    •  Will not work for older devices that are not compatible with current versions of the Bible App
